Lazarus Union India Bridges Gap Between Youth and Global Diplomacy: A New Era of "Education Diplomacy"

In an era where global challenges require increasingly collaborative solutions, the Lazarus Union India (Corps Saint Lazarus International - CSLI India) has emerged as a critical launchpad for the country's next generation of diplomats. Leveraging its General Consultative Status with the United Nations ECOSOC, the organization is actively transforming how Indian youth engage with international relations, moving beyond theoretical study to practical, high-level advocacy.

At the helm of this initiative is Dr. Dinesh Sabnis, Commander in Chief and Ambassador of the Lazarus Union in India. Under his leadership, the organization has pivoted toward a model of "Education Diplomacy," a strategy designed to equip students with the tools to navigate and influence global policy.

From Classrooms to the United Nations

The core of the Lazarus Union’s strategy lies in direct exposure. Unlike traditional leadership programs, CSLI India has successfully facilitated opportunities for Indian students to present academic papers and policy recommendations directly at United Nations offices in Geneva and Vienna.

"In today's world of sensitive international relations, education diplomacy has become a vital tool for favorable ties between nations," Dr. Sabnis noted in a recent address. This philosophy has translated into tangible outcomes, with student delegates focusing on critical Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Quality Education (SDG 4) and Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions (SDG 16).

By mentoring young learners to draft papers on these topics, the Lazarus Union is ensuring that Indian youth voices are not just heard but are contributing to the substantive documentation of the UN’s development agenda.

Furthermore, the Lazarus Union’s International Leadership Academy (ILA) continues to professionalize this training, offering courses on humanitarian aid and crisis management. This ensures that the "youth diplomats" produced by the Union are not only skilled in debate but are also grounded in the practical realities of humanitarian work.

Future Outlook

As India solidifies its position as a leading voice in the Global South, the demand for skilled, globally-minded young professionals is at an all-time high. The Lazarus Union India is filling this gap, creating a pipeline of "Moral and Innovative Leaders" capable of navigating the complex corridors of the UN.

For the aspiring young diplomats of India, the Lazarus Union has sent a clear message: You do not have to wait to be a leader of tomorrow; with the right guidance, you can shape the global agenda today.
